Our Story

A  word from CROP founder & owner, Deborah Kantner

"Crop was founded in 2006, when organic products were rarely ever offered or available in the hair industry. After losing both parents to cancer and battling an illness of my own, i became more aware of the environment around me and changed my lifestyle to a more holistic, natural, and  sustainable way of living.

I also wanted to create an environment safe from chemicals for both my clients and the staff.  Hair color and products have come a long way and continue to evolve over time.  I am constantly seeking out and trying new organic, natural and safe brands and products as they become more available. Crop is Vegan-friendly and uses products that are not tested on animals. We love them and want to treat them with respect!

To me, Crop's mission is to bring people access to natural and  sustainable products,  while also providing them with service and style they can't find anywhere else.

I would like  to thank my life partner, Kris Fagan, who transformed the old Crop into a beautiful new space with his mad skills and craftsmanship.  Thank you for all your love, time and patience.

Many thanks go out to Leanne Pedante for helping Crop out with logos and website!  You are amazing!

Special  thanks to Robert Bowden for his mentorship. Without his guidance, I would not be where I am at today."

Our Staff

Crop is run by several extremely talented, carefully selected professionals. Say hello to our crew:

Deborah Kantner

Deborah always wanted to go to Art School, but her mentor suggested she study the Art of Hair and trained at Aveda Institute in Minneapolis. Moving to Los Angeles in 1999, she began her career doing hair in the editorial world for music and commercials.

After 7 years in the business she wanted to get back into the salon, where she started. She missed being behind the chair, one on one with her clients in a more personalized setting.

CROP started out as a single chair and now hosts 3 other (super-talented!) stylists.

"Having my own space allows me the freedom to carry natural/Organic products which are very important to me, and to CROP."

Danielle Harris

Danielle has been helping people fall in love with their hair since 2003. Many of her 13 years styling hair were spent in her hometown of Chicago where she gained a reputation for being THE woman to see for custom color and helping connect her clients to their ideal style.Danielle's specialities include balayage, blow-outs and dry styling and communicating with her customers to get them the exact cut and style they want. And, of course, she considers herself an expert with curly-hair.

Danielle lives just blocks from CROP with her fiance and their dog, Newman.

Erin Will

Erin attended cosmetology school in Burbank, CA and soon started traveling the US and abroad teaching for Brazilian Blowout, but her talent for creative color and precision haircuts led her to be successful behind the chair full time. Erin's specialties include balayage, precision cuts and creative color. She also offers men's cuts, styling, and a variety of custom coloring.

She also enjoys sewing, listening to records, and discovering new playgrounds with her son, Valentine.

Anthony Crane

Anthony  lives for hair and makeup! He considers the work he does art - as it's the act of creating beauty - and he's been passionate about his art for many years. His favorite looks to style include Pin-up and anything Vintage.

Come in for a makeup and brow consultation with Anthony to discover your new favorite look!
